Great Physicians Inspire Great Philanthropy

Congratulations to our 2022 Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center Physician Champions.

Many donors are first inspired to give after experiencing a life-changing medical event shepherded by one of our compassionate Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center physicians. In turn, their giving further supports the work of the
physicians they appreciate and admire.

This year, Providence Tarzana Foundation recognized three of our physicians with the inaugural Physician Champion Award for inspiring philanthropy and acting as partners with and ambassadors for the Foundation.

Thank you and congratulations to our Physician Champion Award winners Thomas Yadegar, M.D., and Shahin Delkhah, M.D., and to Providence SoCal Region award winner Paul Sogol, M.D.

Thomas Yadegar, M.D.
Pulmonary and Critical Care Medical Director of the ICU

At the height of the pandemic, Thomas Yadegar, M.D., was
at the frontline and garnered media coverage for his innovative approach to treating COVID-19 patients. An enthusiastic Foundation volunteer, Dr. Yadegar spoke at several
Foundation town halls during the pandemic.

He’s an active Foundation partner and is always responsive to requests to speak at salon events or assist the Foundation team. He understands the importance of philanthropy and works to
connect grateful patients to the Foundation.

“It was my lifelong dream to become a physician and I’ll never stop in my quest to try and make my patients better,” he says. “I’m grateful and humbled when a donor is moved to support the work we’re doing at Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center. It’s my honor to share the advances donors can make possible through their generosity.”

Shahin Delkhah, M.D.
Hospitalist/Internal Medicine

A prominent figure at the medical center, Shahin Delkhah, M.D., helped create our Hospitalist Program and is committed to
advancing patient care through philanthropy. Dr. Delkhah is an
extraordinary physician partner who acts as a health care philanthropy ambassador, working closely with Foundation staff to advance patient care.

During the pandemic, he carved out time to speak at Foundation town halls and salon events. He’s an advocate of the Foundation and, understanding the relationship between donor support and great patient care, he encourages patients to learn more about the ways they can be involved.

“Every day I meet patients who come to the hospital with acute medical issues,” he says. “I only have short moments to gain their trust and provide them with their plan of care. When
patients go home and they’re very appreciative, it makes me feel great and appreciate life and come to work even happier the next day.”

Paul Sogol, M.D.
Internal Medicine

With an outstanding reputation as an incredible diagnostician who cares deeply about those in his care, Paul Sogol, M.D., has played an instrumental role in changing the landscape of health care in the San Fernando Valley for more than 44 years. Well aware of the vital role of philanthropy in providing advanced care, Dr. Sogol is a tremendous ally in the Foundation’s fundraising efforts.

He partnered with the Foundation to help the single largest donation in Providence Tarzana Foundation history from Don and Andrea Friese Family. In honor of his commitment to philanthropy, the Foundation named the Paul Sogol, M.D., Physician’s Lounge, recognizing his legacy and impact on the community.

“I never set out to do anything specific in my practice,” he says. “I just wanted to take the best care of my patients that I could. You can’t go wrong if that’s what guides your practice.”
