A Legacy of the Heart

Lori and Adam Saitman’s commitment to Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center is helping shape the future of cardiac care in the Valley

For Lori and Adam Saitman, giving back is rooted in gratitude and a deep love for their community. Longtime donors and volunteer leaders, the couple has made

a landmark gift to establish Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center’s first endowed chair, focused on advancing cardiac care. Endowed chairs are an important part of recruiting, supporting and recognizing physician excellence.

It’s something they felt strongly about supporting.  Lori, a former cardiac nurse, understands the value of having world-class care nearby. “You want excellent care close to home,” she says. “It’s good for the patients because they get better and faster care. It’s good for the families because they don’t have to fight traffic to see their loved ones.”

Adam, who built Comet Electric into a thriving business, sees philanthropy as an investment in progress. “We want to be aligned in helping the hospital leaders achieve the goals they’ve set forth,” he says. “I want to be involved in building something that will bring in new energy and help the hospital flourish.”

The Saitmans demonstrate their commitment to the hospital by showing up and staying engaged. Their support goes well beyond their gift. Adam serves on the Foundation board, and Lori lends her time and expertise to the Foundation’s Heart and Stroke Leadership Council and the hospital’s Quality board.

“Lori and Adam’s generosity is transformative, but just as meaningful is their leadership,”  says Matt Rinnert, chief philanthropy officer. “They are active, thoughtful partners who care deeply about the mission, and we are incredibly fortunate to have them as part of the Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana family.”

Family tradition of giving back

Lori traces her philanthropic instincts back to her grandparents, who were active in the Jewish Federation and set a powerful example of community involvement. Adam says his own journey into philanthropy came as his career grew, and he and Lori began looking to give back in meaningful ways.

They chose to support Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center not only because of their personal ties, but because they believe in its mission and potential. The hospital’s joint venture with Cedars-Sinai brought new talent and technology to the Valley, and the Saitmans see their gift as a way to help elevate that care even further.

“We want people to see this hospital as a place of hope and excellence,” Lori says. “The more people who care, the stronger our community becomes.”

That ethos extends to the next generation. The couple’s adult children, Jake and Carly, were born at Tarzana.  The kids credit their parents with showing them what  it means to support causes you believe in and to lead  by example.

“Our parents are putting their energy into those causes that mean the most to them,” Carly and Jake share.  “They instilled in us this desire to get involved with things we care about. Any impact that we can have, whether big or small, we know it goes a long way.”
